Vinod Dave now lives in New York, USA. He gained MA in mixed media (painting and photography) with Highest Honors from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, India and the University of South Carolina, USA. His exhibitions
have included six solo shows in Bombay and New Delhi and he has been represented in museums and art centers in USA, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan and China.
Vinod Dave has been recognized as one of the leading photographers working with mixed media and his works can be found in the collections of the Indian National Academy of Art, Gujarat State Academy of Art, Punjab University Museum, Max Mueller Center and many private collections. Vinod has taught Art and Art History at universities in India and USA.

Vinod Dave's veelzeggende en sterke verbeelding geeft inzicht in een jongere generatie moderne indiase kunst. Hij is een produkt van de hoog aangeschreven en avant-garde Baroda School. Dave werkt gedeeltelijk in New York en in India. Hij werd onlangs onderscheiden met de Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship voor 1994-95. Dave's werk is duidelijk beïnvloed door de westerse nalatenschap van pop art en collages. De veelheid aan elementen en beelden in lagen zijn echter evenveel afgeleid uit indiase straten, billboards en objekten uit het dagelijks leven, overgoten met kleur en iconografie. Zijn unieke mixed media werk is voor een deel schilderen en voor een deel fotografie, grotendeels donker van kleur en lijkt op het eerste gezicht een interessant abstract kunstwerk. Zijn vormen, soms voorbeelden uit de media. zorgen voor een zinnebeeldige puzzle.
Zoals uiteengezet door kunstcriticus Kamala Kapoor: "Het effect is een vluchtige blik op onze roerige tijd, de onverbiddelijke tijdspassage en het verbrokkelen van culturele, morele, sociale en esthetische verbintenissen die eens als vanzelfsprekend waren". Alles over zijn werk: de bron van originaliteit, het onderwerp, het publiek - heeft betrekking op alle mensen van de wereld. "Hun direkte relatie geeft mijn werk een sterke communicatieve kwaliteit en de potentie om op groot formaat muurtekeningen te maken in wereldsteden waar mensen van allerlei nationaliteiten hun eigen identiteit proberen te vinden". Het is deze communicative kwaliteit in zijn werk, wat het de zo vaak beproefde beschrijving 'internationaal' waardig maakt.
Vinod Dave, geboren in Chital Village, Gujarat, India woont nu in New York, USA. Hij behaalde zijn MA in mixed media (schilderen en fotograferen) cum laude. Zijn tentoonstellingen, inclusief 6 solo shows, waren in Bombay en New Delhi. Zijn werk is opgenomen in musea en kunstcentra in USA, Italïe, Duitsland, Nederland en China. Naast lesgeven in kunst en kunstgeschiedenis aan universiteiten in India and USA, heeft Vinod Dave beurzen en onderscheidingen gekregen voor zijn uitstekende werk in schilderen, tekenen en fotografie van instituten zoals het Asian Cultural Council in New York, de Indian National Academy of Art en het Cultural Fellowship van de regering van India.
